Floor Sanding & Polishing in Toowong
Dyna Floors has been restoring timber floors across Brisbane since 2012, and Toowong is one of the inner-west suburbs we know well. While parts of Toowong have filled in with newer apartments near the busway and university, the pockets around Auchenflower and further west still hold plenty of older Queenslanders and character homes with original timber underneath — floors that are often overdue for their first real refinish in years.

Deck sanding and re-coating in Toowong
Brisbane sun and rain are hard on timber decks, and Toowong’s entertainer decks and verandahs see plenty of both. We sand weathered, grey deck boards back to fresh timber and re-coat them with durable exterior finishes — restoring the colour and protecting the timber for years of use. Deck jobs are quoted separately from interior floors — send us a photo and we’ll give you a straight price.

Often, yes. Original boards under paint or old finish usually need heavier sanding and more punch/putty work, which sits toward the top of the $45–$90/m² range.
-
Very often, yes. Post-war and mid-century Toowong homes commonly hide solid hardwood — Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Ironbark — under old carpet or vinyl. These floors usually restore beautifully and are tougher than most modern replacements.

Yes — we regularly work in units and apartments. We’ll help with the practical side too: body corporate notice, lift and access logistics, and low-odour water-based finishes that keep neighbours happy.
-
Yes. We colour and finish-match new sections to existing hoop pine, blackbutt, or spotted gum so repairs blend in.
-
Hoop Pine in the older Queenslanders and workers cottages, and Spotted Gum, Blackbutt or Ironbark in post-war builds. Each sands and finishes a bit differently — we identify what you’ve got before quoting the approach.
-
Yes — cupped, stained or swollen boards from moisture are common in low-set homes. Some sand out, some need replacing and blending in. We’ll tell you honestly which yours are before any work starts.
-
Yes — weathered decks can be sanded back and re-coated or oiled with exterior-grade products. Quoted separately from interior floors.
-
Both. Single rooms carry a minimum job fee so the per-metre rate is higher, but we do plenty of one-room jobs — bedrooms after carpet removal are the classic.
-
Any time works, but drier winter months give the most predictable coating conditions. Summer humidity just means slightly longer drying between coats — we plan for it either way.
-
We run Lagler sanding machines with Festool dust extraction, which cuts down on dust significantly as we go, so your home stays a lot cleaner than it would with old-school sanding methods. There’s always a small amount that comes with any sanding job, but we take real care to keep it well under control.
